GoTeach Committee
The GoTeach Committee was formed during EGM 07 to help organise the GoTeach project for successful execution during the summer academic holidays of 2007. Below are the details of the members in the committee and the tasks outline for the committee.

TASKS OUTLINE

  • Clearly set out an overall long term plan and strategy for the project with clearly identified goals for this year, based on the discussions held during the EGM
  • Work within the identified and agreed boundaries as discussed at EGM.
  • The project this year shall be focused on sending volunteers and teaching those students who are getting ready for their O/Level exams during October 2007.
  • A duration of 7-14 days (including travelling time) shall be spent by the volunteer full-time for the project during his/her allocated slot.
  • The teaching shall include assisting the students in acquiring study skills, exams skills, and helping them with past paper questions.
  • Monitor, as practically as possible, the execution of the teaching by the volunteers (specially if younger volunteers such are A/Level students are sent to islands)
  • Coordinate with Ministry of Education and other relevant bodies, such as Island offices, Island Development Committees etc in arranging the various logistical details.
  • Identify the islands and island schools to go to teach this year, based on a needs assessment and in line with the overall plan and strategy set out for the project. (Need to do a need assessment in coordination with Ministry of Education and the island communities)
  • Find more volunteers in coordination with the CC
  • Allocate volunteers to the islands/island schools
  • Prepare study materials in coordination with the volunteers and the CC
  • Find funding in coordination with the CC
  • Arrange transportation, accommodation, food, study materials for the volunteers
  • Identify the time period of the execution of the project (CC have decided a wide period of 1 June to 15 Sept 2007, but it can be narrowed down as much as necessary to practically execute the project: this need to be done in close coordination with the volunteers to see when they can give the time.)
  • Select a team, in coordination with the CC, to be based in Male’ during the required time of the summer, for the coordination of the project. It is preferable, if sponsorship can be obtained to find a small office space for this team to be based in male’ for this required duration.
  • Coordinate with CC regarding media coverage
