Duties of MSA(UK) Office Bearers

1. Chairperson
The Chairperson is responsible for the day to day running of the Association in consultation with the Central Committee. (Article 4.8, Constitution – MSA)

  1. The chair is responsible for preparation of agendas for meetings and liaises with the members of Central Committee (CC) to ensure any specific items for discussion, motions & notices etc are included.
  2. The chair is responsible for ensuring meetings comply with the constitution.
  3. The chair is the official spokesperson of the Association.
  4. The chair chairs the AGM & EGM (Article 5.6) and signs confirmed minutes of these.
  5. The chair oversees the management of the website, and liaises with the web master for its appropriate maintenance.


2. Vice chairperson

  1. The Vice-chairperson shall assist the Chairperson in running the day to day affairs of the Association and may assume the powers and responsibilities of the Chairperson in his or her absence. (Article 4.9, Constitution – MSA)


3. Secretary

  1. The secretary is responsible for ensuring minutes are kept for all meetings.
  2. The secretary is responsible for ensuring the distribution of all minutes of meetings.
  3. The secretary is responsible for ensuring that the constitution is maintained in an up-to-date form.
  4. The secretary deals with correspondences and other written documents or submissions as directed by the CC.
  5. The secretary draws up the activity plan for the year.
  6. The secretary is the main point of contact with its members and other Associations etc with the direction given by the CC.


4. Treasurer
The property and funds of the Association shall be administrated by the Treasurer. (Article 7.1, Constitution – MSA)

  1. The treasurer is responsible for ensuring all money to the Association is collected and received.
  2. The treasurer is responsible for ensuring all authorized payments are made as per Article 7.3, Constitution - MSA.
  3. The treasurer is responsible for ensuring proper record keeping of all transactions in and out. (Article 7.4)
  4. The treasurer must ensure that a financial report is presented to the AGM.
  5. The treasurer is responsible for framing a draft budget at the beginning of the year.
  6. The treasurer is responsible to give out receipts and letters of thanks for money/donations given to the Association.


5. Student Advisor

  1. The student advisor is responsible for organizing or initiating projects, activities or other fora which increase awareness of the existence and role of the association.
  2. The student advisor should be responsible for updating the information on the MSA website with regard to student’s welfare and stay in the UK.
