Minutes:

Discussion regarding MSA:

  • It was decided that an invitation to attend the AGM 2007 should be sent to Hon. Guest. Jaa agreed to write the letter.
  • The financial statements for the first 6 months to be finished by the end of this month. Thaa to act on this.
  • Muiz highlighted the fact that the Go-teach project needs more involvement of CC members.
  • VISA issue: A paper based petition to be signed requesting visa to be received in Male’, without having to go to Sri Lanka. It was decided that the petition paper should always be kept with a CC member. One sheet to be circulated in UK and another in Maldives.
  • Discussion of who we are going to invite to be the chief guest at the AGM 2007. Three dignitories were identified and invitation to be sent in descending order if required.
  • Further discussion on Jaa’s proposal to hold an informative “youth challenge” type seminar in Male’ during the summer. Basically, the purpose of this is to raise awareness about the vast educational, professional and vocational opportunities available in the UK. A major plus point of this is that it is also a chance to introduce MSA to the public. The location was discussed to be preferably Aminiya, Iskandar or CHSE. Dharubaaruge also to be considered.
  • Jaa and Thaa to organise the event, Hassan to be actively involved as well.
  • A summer BBQ gathering to be held in over the summer in the UK. Muiz and Annu to overlook this event.
  • Contacting newcomers in September 2007: These people are very important for the effectiveness and success of the Freshers’ Fair and the seminar project in Male’. Contacting Immigration, DHET, etc were discussed.
  • Financial aid: Since MSA needs to raise funding for the above mentioned projects, ideas were discussed on how to go about it. Firstly, the advertisement contact from one company said that they were in the process of designing of the advertisement. Furthermore, Jaa suggested sending out an email to the mailing list and putting an article on the website saying that these are the projects planned for the following 6 months and any person/ organisation willing to donate can come forward.

Discussion regarding Rosemont:

  • A WUC to be made in the room under the stairs, possibly with a wash basin as well. Check up of prices to be carried out for Toilet, wash basin, flush tank, plumbing costs, electrical wiring, workmanship, tiling and water proofing.
  • Replacing the broken louvers in the kitchen with double glazing.
  • Replacing kitchen tap.
  • Curtain renewals, small coffee table – prices to be checked.
  • Write a standard letter to request financial assistance from the big companies in Maldives for the above mentioned improvements to be brought to the house.
