Purpose of the meeting:
This meeting was held to discuss various events which are to be held by the C.C in the upcoming year. Main focus was on events which are to be held in the near future, but ideas about other events were also floated around in the meeting.
Minutes:
Discussed Rosemont issues concerning about financial reports and acquiring Rosemont amendments from Dr. Shafiu.
Discussed about registration in members on the new forum.
Agreed on a Tsunami day message which will be put up on the website on December 26th.
Agreed on Eid and New Year Greetings which will be put up on the website on 30th December.
A proposal was put forward to charge each member ₤1 from each member for events. This idea was put forward by Jaa and Muiz. Discussion about this issue to be carried out on the forum with input from members.
Proposed a suggestion about making voluntary sub-committees in various areas of UK. This is to make communication with all areas of UK easier and correspondence much better. Abba, Naaz and Habaru Issey’s name was put forward as ideal people to approach for these positions in London, Manchester and Bristol respectively. Idea suggested by Muiz. Invitation to all volunteers to be put up on the website.
Agreed on changing Bank signatories A.S.A.P. Hauzan and Shamnoon nominated to become the signatories.
Work started on getting the M.S.A budget from the Education Ministry. Contact Hamid Sodig about the MSA budget A.S.A.P.
Started to prepare the MSA and Rosemont financial reports 2006, which is to be sent to the Ministry of Education.
Discussed about getting written confirmation about borrowing money from Rosemont fund.
Discussed about getting sponsors for MSA leaflet, website and for Go-Teach project.
Ideas about a team to work on the Go-Teach project were put forward by Muiz. It was suggested to get team embers from all over the UK.
Decided to send emails to all MSA members about registration on the MSA forum and website.
Discussed about major updates on the MSA register and registration form.
Suggested to separate alumni from associate members. This s to be doe by re-formatting the registration form to include the start and end of the students study so that it will be easier to identify full members and alumni.
Idea proposed to approach Maldivian students in Scotland, Wales and Ireland. This is to better the relationship between students in various parts of UK as there is a significant student community in these parts of UK.
Moderators selected for website. All C.C members volunteered to become website and forum moderators.
Ideas proposed for new rules about the MSA forum. This includes rules for moderating the forum with accordance with the Islamic Shariah, Maldivian Regulations and the UK regulations.
Venues for EGM put forward. Manchester, Bristol and Birmingham was suggested as appropriate venues. A decision will be put up on the website A.S.A.P.
Ideas for generating money for MSA put forward. These ideas include a Dance night for all members and friends, a Maldivian Film night aimed for the English community as well as Maldivians, a seminar in the Maldives about studying in the UK with sponsors and visiting lecturers from various universities in the UK and a show for all Maldivians to be held in the Maldives with information about universities and courses in UK readily available to anyone who wants information. These ideas will be put up on the website for further discussions by the members.
Web team selected. All C.C. members appointed to the web team.
Agreed to send greeting cards which are to be sent to the President, Ministry of Education, High commission and well-wisher.
