Twenty six radio channels available in UK for Ramadan

Twenty six radio channels will go live in different cities of UK this year, as part of reviving the spirit of Islam during the month renowned for self-resistance. This is nothing new or special for this year, but has been going on for years now, even though most of them are not in a continuous basis. While each channel is seemingly independent of one another, there are some who have served the Muslim community of UK for more than five years.
Most of these channels come live only in Ramadan - the phenomenon is seen more like a special event to make the holy month special and lively. Needless to say, these broadcasts are made possible by invaluable works by some Muslim volunteers, through fundraisings and donations. Given this fact, these radio channels strive to fill in the vast gap created in the media by lack of a good Islamic media channel to serve the Muslim community of the country, especially during Ramadan.
With enduring determination and devoted works, Radio Ummah, located in and being broadcasted from East London, is the first Islamic Internet radio. It can be reached by logging on to www.radioummah.com. Radio Ummah, which is mainly in English language, is being broadcasted 24hrs a day 7 days a week. By contrast, the rest of the radio channels are temporary and will be discontinued after the holy month of Ramadan. The following table gives brief, but important aspects of these temporary radio channels available during this Ramadan, in year 2002.
