The Central Committee has nominated Mr Ali Haidar Ahmad, a PhD student in his final year at University College London, to represent Maldives on Commonwealth Day by being the country's flag-bearer at next month's celebrations.

Haidar, a former Chairperson of MSA-UK, is an active Member of MSA-UK contributing in various ways to our organisation and our country. He was in charge of the MSA-UK tsunami taskforce established at the Annual General Meeting in December 2004.

The Central Committee congratulates Haidar and wishes him well in his final year of studies.
