High Commissioner recognizes Maldivian students' service

Mr Hassan Sobir, the Maldivian High Commissioner in London, has awarded certificates to Maldivian students for their contribution to the tsunami relief efforts to help the people of the Maldives.
At a function held at the Maldivian High Commission in London today the High Commissioner thanked the students and the Maldivian Students' Association for their valuable time and assistance provided in many ways during such a time of need.
He expressed his gratitude to the students for well coordinated effort throughout the UK in raising money and collecting items. He thanked MSA-UK for a generous donation of Rf 65,000 (£1=Rf24) to the tsunami fund in the Maldives. He also thanked them for attending the hotline which was established at the High Commission following the disaster and for their work to increase awareness in the UK on the situation in the Maldives.
He awarded a special certificate of recognition to the Maldivian Students' Association.
Mr Sobir also highlighted the continuing need for donations in money and in kind, during the restoration phase at which the country is in now.
Mr Ali Haidar Ahmed and Ms Aamal Ali thanked the High Commissioner on behalf of the students.
