High Commissioner hosts Ifthar for MSA-UK

The Maldivian High Commissioner (acting) in London Honourable Mr Adam Hassan hosted an "iftaar" (Roadha veellun) for MSA(UK) members at the High Commission of Maldives in London on Saturday, 15th November 2003. The event was attended by the High Commissioner, staff of the High Commission and 32 members of MSA(UK).
After breaking fast, members prayed the "Maqrib Prayer" led by High Commissioner. Then came the moment of great expectations for the group, the big feast! Members enjoyed the variety of food presented especially the delicious Maldivian dishes.
After the meal, High Commissioner gave a brief speech to members. He first thanked all the members for attending and highlighted three important points to us all. He said the we, students are very lucky that we have got a great opportunity to study in the UK and we all must try our level best to excel in our studies, set ourselves as good examples to others and work hard to bring good name and pride to our country, family and friends. He then said that we are "Muslims" and we must try and work hard to be good Muslims and should make every effort to make our "Imaan" strong especially during this holy month of Ramazan. On the third point he stated that we are "Maldivians" and we should always love our great nation, Maldives no matter where we are. He ended his speech by saying that Maldivian High Commission belongs to us, Maldivians and the High Commissioner and staff are committed to provide their help and support to us at all times.
On behalf of the members, Chairperson thanked High Commissioner and all the staff of MHC for hosting the ifthaar and presented a small gift to the Maldivan High Commission.
