Dr Mahmood Shougee has been appointed to the post of the Minister of Education by President Maumoon Abdul Gayyoom on 11th November 2003.

After completing his PhD at the University of Toronto, Canada, Dr Shougee returned Maldives in late 1999. Since returning home he has provided his dedicated and loyal service to the Ministry of Education at various levels. Today, after three years, he is holding the post of the Minster at the Ministry of Education. This proves Dr Shougee's leadership qualities, capability and his dedication to serve us as the Minister.

Today the Chairperson of MSA(UK) Abdulla Shareef telephoned the Minister and extended warm congratulations and sincere well wishes on his appointment to the post.

The Minister told the Chairperson that he greatly appreciated the telephone call and expressed his profound happiness on receiving the call. He also expressed his pleasure for being able to meet the Central Committee and Webteam during his last visit to UK. He also highlighted that he has already looked into the concerns raised by MSA(UK) members and promised he will continue to provide his cooperation and support.

In conclusion, the Chairperson thanked the Minister on behalf of MSA(UK) members for the continued support from the Ministry. He also assured the Minster that MSA(UK) will continue to maintain a close relationship with the Ministry in the future.
