The holy month of Ramazan begins on 27th October 2003 for the United Kingdom. This has been confirmed on the London Central Mosque, Kingston Mosque and The UK Ruiyate Hilal Committee websites given below.
In Maldives, The Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs have also declared 26th October as the first day of Ramazan.
On this auspicious occasion, the Central Committee and Web team would like to extend sincere well wishes to all the members, family members and relatives and also to all brothers and sisters in Islam. Wish you ALL a blessed Ramazan!
Let’s remind ourselves that fasting in the month of Ramazan serves many purposes for us, Muslims. While we are hungry and thirsty, we are reminded of the suffering of the poor. Fasting is also an opportunity to practice self-control and to cleanse the body and mind. Since Ramazan is the most sacred month, fasting helps us to feel the peace that comes from spiritual devotion as well as kinship with our family members, neighbours and also with our brothers and sisters in Islam.
Therefore, let us seek abundance rewards from Almighty Allah in this noble month of Ramazan by performing good deeds and initiating improvement of our reputation, character and for the cultivation of good habits as this could be our last Ramazan.
O Allah, let this month of Ramazan commence with your mercy, kindness and cover us with your blessing. O Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful pardon our sins, give us the strength and make us capable of performing good deeds during this holy month and make us among the people who seek the "night of power" - lailathul gadr!
