This motion was passed at the EGM on 9th of April 2011. This motion hereby relieves Maldivian Student Association in the United Kingdon (MSA-UK) of the financial responsibilities held by the association in maintaining 9 Rosemont Avenue. This constitutes of allocation of a warden and his/her responsibility in paying the utility bills, paying for and repairing minor damages along with purchase of items necessary for the household. It also includes, allocation of tenants, collection of rent and the monthly and yearly statements. Other responsibilities such as caring for the well being of 9 Rosemont Avenue will still be held by MSA-UK.
Further Information
As it was passed in the EGM, information about the motion was conveyed to the Maldives High Commission in the UK on 24th May 2011 at a meeting held at the High Commission. During the meeting, we (Central Committee) were informed that Government of Maldives has instructed Foreign Ministry of Maldives to take over the full responsibility of the 9 Rosemont Avenue from the Education Ministry, as 9 Rosemont Avenue is under the responsibility of the Education Ministry.
Due to this change, High Commission of the Maldives has also informed MSA to hand over the whole premise of 9 Rosemont Avenue to the High Commission-UK before 15 July 2011 for major repairs and maintenance. This is to renovate the building and fix major problems with the heating system, plumbing, etc.
So until further notice from Maldives High Commission in the UK, MSA will not be seeking any applicants for the 9 Rosemont Avenue for September 2011 intake and MSA does not have any role in 9 Rosemont Avenue.
As of 15th July, 9 Rosemont Avenue will be under the regulations of the Foreign Ministry. MSA has not been informed of what would happen to 9 Rosemont Avenue after the renovation has been complete.
The MSA-UK Central Committee hereby convey this message to all dear members of the MSA-UK.
