Revised Rosemont regulation comes into effect
The Central Committee is delighted to inform the members of MSA(UK) and all the stakeholders of the Association that the new Rosemont Regulation is enacted with immediate effect. We received official approval from the Ministry of Education, for the new Rosemont Regulation on 14 August 2007. The revised regulation is now available from the MSA(UK) website and will be available at Rosemont as well.

As was informed on our website on 13 May 2007, the CC has been working on forming a new Regulation for the management of Rosemont. The main points of the proposed Regulation were also made available online that same day. Rosemont Avenue, fondly called as "Rosemont" by everyone, is the main socializing point of all the Maldivian students studying in the UK. It is also a cheap and convenient alternative for Maldivian students studying in London to live there as tenants during the academic year. Hence, it is one of the main priorities of MSA (UK) to ensure that both the tenants and the visitors to the house are equally satisfied with most if not every aspect of the house. This includes the effectiveness and transparency exhibited in how the house is managed and looked after, the set of rules and regulations binding the tenants, visitors and all the stakeholders of the house.

The set of rules and regulations are important in order to make sure that the house is properly managed as a student house and in the meantime making sure that a friendly and harmonious relationship exists between the visitors and the tenants. Furthermore, it is one of the aims of MSA (UK) that the income generated from the house can be effectively and transparently used towards the repair and refurbishment of the house in addition to the day-today maintenance of the house. Thus the existing set of rules and guidelines have been thoroughly reviewed and revised to ensure the new Rosemont Regulation positively addresses the two basic purposes of Rosemont and is in accordance with the laws of the UK and Maldives. The reviewing and revision of the rules and guidelines was carried out with the participation of the members of MSA(UK) at various stages. This was carried out during and after the EGM, and in the MSA(UK) online forum and via email.

The Regulation is intended to serve the aims and objectives mentioned above, and hence it is the anticipation of the Central Committee that the Regulation will be taken onboard by MSA(UK) members positively and cooperatively.
