“National day is an occasion to revitalize the devotion to the nation, and to reinforce national unity and solidarity, and peace and harmony” His Excellency Mr Maumoon Abdul Gayoom
President of the Republic of Maldives, National Day 2003 [1]
The Central Committee and the Webteam extends warm greetings and sincere wishes to all members and fellow countrymen on the jubilant occasion of our National Day.
Today we are celebrating the great victory of Sultan Muhammed Thakurufaanu Al-Auzam (Bodu Thakurufaanu) and his companions over the Portuguese 431 years ago. The objectives of the heroic campaign led by Bodu Thakurufaanu were national liberation, protection of Islamic faith and safeguarding of national identity. They showed their heroism and love to Islam and to the nation by sacrificing their lives. May Almighty Allah´s peace and blessing be upon the departed souls and give them paradise for their heroic sacrifice.
The theme for this year's National Day set out by the Maldivian Government is “Strengthening Family Relations: Nation's Progress” [2].
May Allah Almighty, Most-Gracious, Most-Merciful give us the strength and make us capable of performing patriotic duty of safe guarding our religion, Islam and national independence and sovereignty of our country, Maldives. May Allah Almighty's peace and blessing be with us all on this happy occasion!
