The GoTeach Project
21st Jul – 4th Aug – The Go-Teach Project is well underway in making its final preparations and the volunteers will fly out tomorrow to Laamu atoll. A massive pat on the back for the teams in UK and Male’ for all the hard work, effort and energy they are putting in to make this a success!

Barbecue
28th - A Barbeque is to be held in Rosemont for the people in the UK. Basically the idea is to have a get-together just to have fun and enjoy the summer sun. So invite all Maldivians you know! Those people living outside London – run fast to catch those tickets while they’re still cheap! (Ps. Did u know that you can get one way coach tickets for £1 if you book ahead)

August

Study in UK
Just round the corner, tentatively during the 3rd weekend of August, we’ve got a seminar rolling to try and create a bit of awareness in Maldives about studying and student life in UK, MSA (UK), Rosemont, what we do, what we have to offer for the newbies… You get the picture.

Its being planned as a very informal “youth challenge” type informative session, where we also demonstrate the vast opportunities that are available to international students. For instance, top A-level achievers could apply directly to universities which offer full (or part) scholarships, instead of waiting to win one in Maldives.

Initially announced to be held on 14 July, but postponed to be held after GoTeach project, it requires a lot of support from past and present full members of MSA(UK) by attending the event and sharing their experience.

September

Maahefun
We are also thinking about hosting “Maahefun” throughout the UK. The tentative date set is 8th September 2007 (as the holy month of Ramadan start around 13th September). We’ll bring you more details of this later as well.

October

Freshers’ Fair (with Roadha Veellun)
As autumn dawns, we saw hello to what we hope to be a bunch of new faces at the Freshers Fair. This event will be held together with the MSA Roadha Veellun. The rough date set for now is 6th-7th October 2007.

Eid Competition
After the holy month of Ramadan, we’ll have an Eid Competition to celebrate Fitr Eid. As you all know, last year we held the competition to celebrate the Adha Eid and it was a huge success. So, we are hoping that this time it would be bigger and better! :)

Fundraising Event
Presently at the planning stage, we are hoping to hold a fundraising event towards the end of October, to raise funds for MSA activities.

November

Museum Outing
In November (tentative date: 4th), we’re thinking of calling out for a Museum Outing again. Yeah, yeah, since last time this kind of... well, ‘flopped’ - for lack of a better word- we’re open to all suggestions to an alternative event, or what can be done to make this a bit more interesting.

December

The AGM
In December we’ve got the AGM at Rosemont, commencing with Adha Eid celebrations on the 20th, then the official AGM to be set off, tentatively, on the 21st and the final meeting held on 22nd.



Well that’s just a brief outline to what we’ve got planned for the following 5 months. If you’ve got any suggestions and/or questions, please let us know! Also, as you all know, we will need funds for carrying out the activities, and we are trying to get funds.
