EGM 2006 concludes successfully

MSA EGM 2006 has concluded after successful execution in Bristol. The gathering took place from 14th-17th April and was attended by over 45 members.
The first day of the gathering saw the members present have a fun day out in the welcoming sunny spells. The healthy lunch of the afternoon was followed by a football match and a more involving dodgeball session afterwards. The second day saw the bulk of the members arriving all day through out. The "Pool Championship" had the members competing individually as well as in teams. The "Bowling Championship" took place later in the afternoon and found a larger crowd of members present and participating. The championship took place with member teams from Bristol, London and Manchester competing against each other for highest scores. Members cooled off the night with a fun night out in the bustling night life of Bristol.
The members went off the Weston Beach, Bristol, for a fun day out on the third day. Members indulged in activities including volleyball, dodgeball and a host of other exciting and fun sports. The EGM meeting took place later the same day at a meeting hall at the Easton Leisure Center, Bristol. The MSA chairperson 2006, Ms. Aishath Ali Naaz presented a report of the year's progress and work done so far. The members got a chance to involve themselves deeper in the governance of MSA through a workshop style working groups created among all the members present to find solutions and explore the various future activities of the MSA. Afterwards, the new MSA website was launched by the chairperson while the secretary Mr. Jawish Hameed introduced the website and explained the projected hopes for the new site. Voting for the election of a member to the post of Advisory Council member took place afterwards and vote counting was carried out independantly by the High Commissioner Mr. Hassan Sobir and his deputy Mr. Adam Hassan. The post was won by Mr. Abdulla Sodiq after gaining 12 out of 21 voters. We congratulate him on his success! The EGM meeting ended after a lengthy and hot Q' n A round that let members interact with the Central Committee 2006. Members raised various problems - ranging from personal to general student concerns.
