Ali Niyaz passes away

It was with deep sadness and shock that we received the sad news of the sudden death of Ali Niyaz who has been working as the legal Counsellor of the Tourism Ministry.

Ali was literally the top student in his student days. He was the best GCE O Level student in 1990 and also the best GCE A Level student in 1992. Ali received the prestigious President of Maldives Scholarship to undertake a 4-year degree program in Law and Civil Engineering at University College London. His top academic performances combined with his record achievements in extracurricular activities made him a role model among the Maldivian youth.

During his time in the UK, Ali made an enormous contribution to MSA (UK). In 1994, Ali served as the Secretary of the association and in 1997 he served as the Chairperson. Between 1996 and 1998 he also looked after 9 Rosemont Avenue and the welfare of the Maldivian students who shared the house with him.

On behalf of members MSA (UK), we express our deepest respect and gratitude to Ali and send our deepest condolences to his family. May Allah bless his soul.
